Reverse Osmosis (RO)

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove contaminants such as heavy metals, fertilizer, pesticides and larger particles from water. Generally, RO is used for industrial production.

The RO process produces 2 types of water. The pure Permeate water produced from the RO process can be used as industrial water, and Concentrate water that contains intensive total dissolved solids (TDS), will go through a secondary wastewater treatment process to remove contaminants. It will then be converted into an effluent that can be used as service water for cleaning and irrigation purposes.

All WHA wastewater treatment facilities adhere to regulatory standards and treatment guidelines imposed by the Ministry of Industry to ensure that the treated water is environmentally safe and can be discharged into natural water sources or be recycled for industrial use.

All of WHA’s ten industrial estates provide excellent supporting infrastructure and comprehensive utility services including clean water, wastewater treatment, waste disposal landfill and power generation to provide a conducive environment for industries to grow and transform.
