WHAUP Spotlights Integrated Utilities & Energy Leadership, Unveiling 14 MW AAT Solar Milestone as a Benchmark for Sustainable Manufacturing

RAYONG, November 6, 2026 – WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) has reinforced its leadership in integrated utilities and industrial energy solutions, announcing the commercial launch of a 14-megawatt (MW) solar power system for AutoAlliance (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (AAT), an automotive manufacturing joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Mazda Motor Corporation located in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate (Rayong) [ESIE].
Comprising both Solar Rooftop and Floating Solar installations, the project demonstrates WHAUP’s capability to engineer bespoke clean-energy systems for high-demand industrial clients. Alongside renewable power, WHAUP spotlighted its advanced Water Reclamation capabilities—designed to guarantee resource security and enhance industrial competitiveness—while scaling its utility and energy portfolio to capitalize on upcoming Direct Power Purchase Agreements (Direct PPA) under Thailand’s Power Development Plan (PDP 2026).
Mr. Akarin Prathuangsit, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Utilities and Power Plc, stated: “As the industrial sector accelerates its clean energy transition and decarbonization efforts, manufacturers need more than just green power—they need solutions that balance cost efficiency, operational reliability, and commercial value. WHAUP integrates engineering excellence, project execution, and smart energy management to deliver tailor-made solutions that turn sustainability investments into measurable business outcomes.”
The partnership with AAT highlights the strategic strength of the WHA Group Ecosystem. Located within WHA industrial estate, AAT initially utilized WHAUP’s industrial water services before expanding the collaboration into renewable energy. Under a fully funded model, WHAUP financed, developed, and now manages the entire system—combining a 6 MW Solar Rooftop (under a long-term PPA) and an 8 MW Floating Solar system connected via direct wire into AAT's production lines. This turnkey structure allows AAT to adopt 14 MW of clean energy with zero upfront capital expenditure, lowering operating costs, cutting carbon emissions, and advancing its transition toward sustainable automotive assembly.
“This achievement demonstrates how the WHA Group Ecosystem creates lasting value for clients—progressing from foundational estate infrastructure and utility services to customized renewable energy systems engineered for complex factory layouts,” Mr. Akarin added. “Our sustained collaboration reflects AAT’s confidence in WHAUP’s technical execution and WHA Group’s commitment to driving sustainable industrial growth.”
Mr. Silvio Illi, President and Chief Executive Officer of AutoAlliance (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (AAT), remarked: “The global automotive industry has reached a decisive turning point where decarbonization and renewable energy adoption are vital to long-term competitiveness. AAT is committed to systematically increasing our clean energy share. Through our collaboration with WHAUP across rooftop and direct-wire floating solar installations, our 14 MW solar capacity now meets approximately 25% of our plant's total power demand—a crucial step forward in reducing emissions across our production footprint.
Over the long term, AAT is targeting 100% clean energy. We are confident that partnering with an industry leader like WHAUP will be instrumental in enabling our energy transition and shaping a sustainable future for Thailand’s automotive industry.”
Synchronizing Clean Energy and Water Reclamation to Secure Industrial Resources
Beyond clean electricity, WHAUP continues to consolidate its competitive edge in integrated utilities, spanning raw and industrial water supply, wastewater treatment, and advanced Water Reclamation. This resource management model delivers essential supply security and efficiency across the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand’s primary industrial investment zone.
The Water Reclamation Plant at WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 1 (WHA ESIE 1) utilizes advanced water treatment technologies to enhance the quality of treated wastewater for reuse in industrial operations. The facility also supports the production of value-added water and demineralized water to meet the specific requirements of various industries. This helps reduce reliance on natural water resources, improve water resource management efficiency, and promote circular economy principles.
“Water and power are the foundational pillars of industrial operations—particularly for next-generation industries that require uninterrupted, resilient supply,” said Mr. Akarin. “By synchronizing energy and water solutions, WHAUP empowers manufacturers to optimize costs, mitigate resource volatility, and drive long-term operational resilience.”
Scaling Next-Gen Energy and Utilities for Future Industries and PDP 2026
Looking ahead, WHAUP is expanding its footprint across Thailand and Vietnam. In 2026, the company targets total water supply and management volumes of 170 million cubic meters and cumulative signed PPA capacity of 1,124 equity MW, including 596 MW of renewable energy. WHAUP is actively scaling its capacity to serve future high-tech industries—most notably Hyperscale Data Centers—both inside and outside WHA industrial estates.
Concurrently, WHAUP is primed to capture growth under Thailand's updated energy blueprint, particularly the draft Power Development Plan (PDP 2026), which prioritizes clean power integration and grid modernization. The anticipated launch of Direct PPAs through Third-Party Access (TPA) frameworks will grant industrial consumers direct access to green energy while unlocking long-term investment pathways for renewable energy developers.
“WHAUP is uniquely positioned to seize policy-driven opportunities. Our diversified renewable portfolio—spanning rooftop, floating, and ground-mounted solar—paired with extensive infrastructure and a deep industrial client base, provides a solid launchpad to scale Direct PPA offerings once regulatory frameworks are finalized,” noted Mr. Akarin.
WHAUP is also advancing next-generation energy technologies, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Energy Trading, and end-to-end carbon management services. These include Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) procurement and the proprietary CO2ZERO platform, which enables industrial clients to monitor and manage energy use and emissions seamlessly.
“By uniting our utility expertise with the WHA Group Ecosystem and smart innovations under WHA Intelligence, we deliver solutions that generate both commercial value and sustainability. We are committed to supporting Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon society under our corporate vision: WHA: Shape the Future for Thailand,” Mr. Akarin concluded.
