WHAUP Delivers Wang Tanot Constructed Wetland Project in Chantaburi’s Nong Khla Subdistrict





WHA Utilities and Power PCL (WHA UP), in conjunction with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Wang Tanot Watershed team, Nong Khla Sub District Municipal Office, Thai Industrial Estate and Strategic Partner Association, Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability, Federation of Thai Industries, and Map Ta Phut Plant Manager Club, recently held the inauguration of the Wang Tanot Constructed Wetland for waste water treatment in Nong Khla Municipal Subdistrict, Chantaburi province.

Mr. Vivat Jiratikarnsakul, Chief Operating Officer, Industrial and International, WHA Industrial Development PLC; together with WHA UP executives Mr. Somkiat Masunthasuwun, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Akarin Prathuangsit, Chief Operating Officer; and Mr. Varanon Laosuwan, Utilities Business Development Director; delivered the completed project to the Nong Khla Subdistrict Municipal Office in the presence of Mr. Pratheep Aengchuan, Deputy Governor, Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Admiral Pichet Tanaset, Chairman of the Sub-committee in charge of studying eastern river basin management, and Mr. Suthee Thongyaem, Governor of Chanthaburi. Also present were high-level officials from government organizations, representatives of associations, universities and the community.

With a daily capacity of 400 m3 at present, and up to 800 m3 in the future, the community wastewater management and treatment project was constructed by WHA Utilities and Power PCL (WHA UP) under the Clean Water for Planet initiative, on a 15 rai plot of land. Wastewater from the Nong Khla community is treated biologically with a natural technology using plants such as typha and bird of paradise, and microorganisms to absorb organic substances. Also using solar energy, the project stresses the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.
